ButcherBox WINS
Scenario
In August 2020 I was invited by ButcherBox to be a guest speaker for their internal women’s group.
Every month ButcherBOX hosts a program for their WINS members with a new theme and utilizes small group discussions, open forums, guest speakers, activities and group chat. The goal is to deliver uplifting, empowering content that leaves everyone feeling more refreshed, connected- and GOOD. Topics have included: self-care, executive presence, virtual exhaustion, intersectionality and Imposter Syndrome.
The custom workshop I designed for ButcherBox WINS specifically was a virtual program on mindbody, wellness and the importance of taking care of yourself holistically.
My Approach
Because we wanted to engage a broad based audience that recognized various backgrounds, experiences and environments, we focused the program on expanding ideas around what health and wellness looks like. This included having open dialogue around dismantling diet culture and emphasizing how any and all forms of movement is beneficial. The central theme we reinforced was on how to reshape thoughts and actions around health and wellness to be celebrations of joys, rather than forms of punishment and shaming as in often the case in behavior patterns. The program also featured a mindful meditation segment, scalable fitness class and a fantastic Q&A where members were allowed to share experiences and get answers to some of their wellness concerns.
Outcomes
The end result was a 60 minute experience that not only supported the ButcherBox WINS group objectives of uplifting and empowering its women members, but also set them up with practical takeaways and resources that they can continue to benefit from on their own both inside and outside the workplace.
