Fun Friday - Sochi Edition

It’s Friday, I got my bottle of Ste. Chateau Michelle Riesling chilling in the fridge, I’m about to cook an amazing dinner and most importantly, it’s OPENING CEREMONIES of the 2014 SOCHI WINTER GAMES!! In my book that is a ton of FUN packed into one night.

I don’t know about you, but the opening ceremonies of any Olympics might just be my second favorite night of every 2 years. (Christmas Eve  is the first, just in case you’re wondering) I’ve been a huge Olymipcs fanatic since pretty much birth. Interesting considering the career I’m in. I just remember being a kid and getting so excited. I couldn’t wait to see the opening ceremonies and watch all the different events. I specifically remember one summer in particular where I was about 6 or 7 and getting together with all my cousins down at our beach cottage for one of the Summer Games. We had glowsticks, we got to stay up late and and eat all sorts of yummy food and drink soda.

There’s just always been something magical about the Olympics for me. Maybe it was my love for sports or my infatuation with Greek history and how the games all began. I don’t know. But I just don’t think there is anything more fun than people from all over the world getting together to compete in sporting events for the pure joy and beauty of it all. Putting aside all differences and beliefs and competing in peace for one common goal- to just do the best you possibly can among the best people you could possibly be with. I mean how cool is that? Think about it.

I’m looking forward to watching the ice skating, snowboarding and of course hockey. I’ll be parked in front of my T.V. watching and cheering for the next two and a half weeks. You can count on it. And hopefully one of these years I”ll get to actually attend an Olympics because its on my “DO IT” list.

In the meantime I’ll just cheer from my living room and keep on keeping on. Enjoy the show
